Bullying Policy

It is a requirement in our school that:

EVERY MEMBER OF THE SCHOOL BEHAVES IN A CONSIDERATE WAY AND RESPECTS THE RIGHTS OF OTHERS

School is Safe

It is the school’s intention to create a safer climate for its students and reduce school bullying by adopting

  • programmes to prevent bullying such as peer support programmes, school policy, and classroom rule
  • reactive approach - a step by step plan for teachers when bullying has occurred.
Definition of Bullying

BULLYING IS THE WILFUL DESIRE TO HURT, THREATEN OR EMBARRASS SOMEONE.

Bullying has three characteristics:

  1. It is repeated over time
  2. It involves an imbalance of power
  3. It may be verbal, physical, social, or psychological.
Acts of Bullying
  • Physical harm - hit, push kick
  • Threat of physical harm
  • Nasty name calling or teasing
  • Extortion, demand for money or favours
  • Exclusion, deliberately leaving someone out of an activity
  • Written abuser - sending nasty notes
  • Interference with personal property.
What a student can do

Students should not retaliate by physical or verbal bullying.

Simply knowing that you can do something about it makes a difference.

Report bullying incidents to the Year Coordinator or the Deputy Principal.
