Identification, Library and Photocopying Card

All students are issued with a new card in Year 8 and Year 11 as part of the school fees budget. Cards are of strong, printed plastic and should last for three school years if treated the same as any bank, credit or access card. Replacements due to loss, damage or defacement are to be paid for by the students at a cost of $5.50 (inc GST).   The card is now a multi-purpose identification card that includes a photo and various functions for cost-saving and safety. Inclusion of the birth-date enables students to use it as a proof of age at outside venues. The magnetic swipe facility allows for students to load money for using the photocopier in the library. Library loans and loans of texts from some learning areas are completed using the barcode.

Security

All students are required to have an ID card with their photo for identification and security, particularly when out in the school areas open to public access. With such a large school population, it is not possible for teachers to know everyone, so students may be asked to identify themselves to staff.

Library Loans

A resource is only lent to a student who has their identification card. Borrowing by a student for another student on their own card is not allowed, and if caught doing so, their borrowing rights will be suspended. Borrowers retain responsibility for damage or loss to library resources. This is a strict policy as parents are generally reluctant to pay for books lost by other people’s children.

Photocopying

If students wish to use the photocopier in the Library they must make payment to library staff. The photocopying function is activated by the swipe strip on the back. Money can be loaded on the card before school or at lunchtime, but not in class time. No cash copying is available, as the library does not have an electronic change box.

Computer Use

Cards are required for identification, to access the computers for personal use, in the computing rooms, G22 and the library. Students are not allowed to access the computers with another student’s logon and password or to use their ID card. Logon allows access to student’s files and assignments, and their print cost allocation, according to their subject fees.

Smart Rider Cards

Concession cards for travel on Transperth are issued separately by Transperth and distributed by the Deputy Principal - Operations to all students.
