The Music program at Applecross Senior High School has over 200 students, including Year 6 and 7 students from our local feeder primary schools. The school boasts ten ensembles: Junior, Intermediate and Senior Concert Bands, Junior and Senior Classical Guitar Ensembles, Junior and Senior String Orchestras, Jazz Band, a Year 8 Class Music Choir and a whole School Choir.
Nine teachers from the School of Instrumental Music teach every instrument available in the Western Australian Government School system in the school’s Music program.
In 2004, the Senior Concert Band, Scimitar Orchestra and Classic Guitar Ensemble were invited to the 15th Australian International Music Festival in Sydney and Bathurst. Public performances included the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Town Hall. In 2006, the same ensembles undertook a Tour of the North Island of New Zealand.
Each year, the ensembles participate in the ABODA Festival and perform at consistently high levels.
