Inter-school Sport Selection Procedures

Applecross SHS participates in a number of sporting events across a wide variety of sports. The teams for these events are selected in a number of different ways depending on the circumstances.

Swimming and Athletics
Members for the Inter-school Swimming and Athletics Teams are selected following the school Inter-house carnivals. Selection is based on student performance at these carnivals. Students hoping to make the inter-school team should compete in the first division at the inter-house carnivals.

There are sometimes extenuating circumstances where a student may challenge for a position in these teams. If a student feels that they have grounds to challenge for a position in the team they must discuss the situation immediately following the announcement of the team with the Health & Physical Education HOLA. If it is deemed that a challenge is warranted then a time and date for the challenge will be set in consultation with all concerned.

Lightning Carnivals and Champion Schools Competitions
Students will be notified via the morning notices when nominations for these teams open. Students must write their name on the nomination list and if necessary trials will be held. If a student is unavailable for the trial they must discuss with the relevant staff member if another trial can be negotiated. Students are expected to attend all training sessions and team meetings that are held. Failure to attend may place their position in the team in jeopardy.

• Term Dates
  

  Term 2 concludes for students on Friday 5th July. Term 3 commences for students on Tuesday 23rd July.

• Uniform Shop
  

  In Terms 2 & 3 the shop is open each Monday 1pm to 4pm, and Wednesday 8am to 11.30am.

• Car Parking
  

  Due to the building project the main car park is now out of use. Parents are asked to drop off & pick up either on Ardessie St or Links Rd. The front driveway is NOT a kiss & drive zone.
