Privacy and Security Information

PERMISSION REQUIRED TO USE PHOTOGRAPHS/VIDEO FOOTAGE/DIGITAL IMAGES

Students and Staff

The Information Private and Security Policy and procedures cover the use of personal information, and in particular that the persons providing confidential information have the right to know how it will be used.

It is important to note that this policy also relates to the use of student/staff stills, video footage, digital images and any other means of electronic communication.

Permission must be sought from parents when photographs or digital images of students are to be used outside the classroom environment. Examples of this would include:

  • Photographs taken for the local community newspaper and/or “School Matters” to promote a school activity.
  • Photographs used in the School Bulletin.
  • Digital images taken electronically and placed on the school web site and or included in a CD Rom to promote the school
  • Video footage of students used for whatever purpose.

Parents must be advised of the use to which photographs or digital images will be put, and written consent must be obtained prior to publication. Consent should be sought for the broadest possible use of the material. In the event that the material is used for a purpose different from that described in a previous consent form, then a new consent form needs to be obtained.
