Student Attendance Procedure

The Roll Call for the day is taken during Care Group each morning before Period One.

A warning siren sounds at 8.25 am and students should move quickly to Care Group.

Students who are frequently late to any period are required to do "After School Detention" to make up for time lost and to encourage punctuality. Attendance at Care Group is compulsory and vital for the smooth running of school.

Student procedure when late to School?

Up until 8.45 am students proceeds straight to Care Group. If it is after 8.30 am students will be marked down as late and persistent lateness without legitimate reasons will result in after-school detentions.

After 8.45 am students must report to reception and follow this procedure:

  1. Write name in the blue Late Book. Record details as requested.
  2. Write out their own blue Late Slip (record name, time of arrival & date).
  3. See Front Office staff. If possible present a note explaining lateness such as a dental appointment. If student does not have a note will need to bring one the next day. Front Office staff will then sign the late note. Show blue late note to class teacher but keep it to give to Care Group teacher at next Care Group session.

DO NOT PROCEED TO ANY CLASS WlTHOUT FOLLOWING THE ABOVE PROCEDURE.

What do I do if students have to leave school during the day or leave early?
  1. Hand note explaining reason for leaving to Care Group teacher. Care Group teacher will give the student a slip allowing them to leave class.
  2. When the student needs to leave, show teacher the slip received from Care Group teacher – go down to front office.
  3. In the Appointments Book the student records details of name, year, time out, time back if applicable, reason.
  4. Student goes to reception to have the appointment slip signed before leaving.
  5. If the student returns to school after the appointment the student must “sign in” in the late book kept in Reception.

Never leave the school without signing out at the Front Office.

The School Nurse signs out students who are sick. Students must not ring home on their mobile phone or leave without the Nurse’s permission. The Nurse will ring home.
